Re: Another for a friend. thought was namwah but was wrong.

Re: Another for a friend. thought was namwah but was wrong.

There are a few different Namwah/Pisang Awak available even in Florida, and one of them that I've seen and grown looks a bit like this one. It has semi-persistent male flowers below the bunch, and...

Re: funguscide dip for REPLANTING SUCKERS

Paring the corms and inspecting for weevils is more important than bleach, if you aren’t doing that and making sure they arent already infested, then the bleach wont do much. If you do that, and also...

Re: What is going on with this pup?

This is a common occurrence with newly transplanted suckers. What happens is the pseudostem can be slightly damaged during transplant sometimes creating a sort of blockage, and when growth resumes...

Re: what kind of bananas come from veitnam and the surrounding areas

There are many varieties from that region, but even so, I don’t think the evidence you state really narrows it down at all, many of the cutlivars found there are also found all over SE Asia, and...

Re: Musa Zebrina seeds?

They are not banana seeds of any kind. Lots of seed scammers out there, especially on ebay.

Re: Nieghbors mystery banana

The plant shown has a horizontal bunch with tightly spaced hands, even though its young, you can see the position of the peduncle is horizontal (a trait that rarely changes with maturity), and the...

Re: Nieghbors mystery banana

Its not Williams. Looks to be either Dwarf Brazilian or Raja Puri, leave male bud attached as it progresses for more precise ID.

Re: Is this what I think it is????

Its definitely flowering, but the info you originally got is correct in that it is the wild species Musa basjoo, which will not produce edible fruit. But, its still fun to watch it grow and flower,...

So far they appear to be Bluggoe/Orinoco, but post a few more photos as it develops and we can give you a 100% confirmation.

Re: Is the fruit salvageable?

Not much you can or need to do except just keep them inside for awhile and eventually they will ripen. If you really want to try and speed them up, you can place them along with some apples or other...

Re: Does this seem legit?

Wow, I only watched the first couple minutes, but its total BS. Grand Nain is not particularly quick, in fact nowhere near the quickest, and is not a good choice for container growth. The plant they...

Re: Opinions on these?

If it is a FHIA cultivar, it would have to be FHIA-03, but a little hard to say for sure without seeing a more mature bunch, but it’s feasible.
