Re: New Here-Help Appreciated

Spider mites can be a pain. Make sure you are spraying the entire plant, including crevices and such on the p-stem, and the potting medium.

What I usually do if i do get an infestation on a plant...

Re: New Here-Help Appreciated

I am by no means an expert either, but that looks like Ensete ventricosum to me, I could be wrong.

Most of my experience is with houseplants in general, so the following is based on that and not...

Re: Overwintering in pots

Sounds like you plan on keeping them outside all winter?

I have no experience in your climate zone but I have spent some time in 8b. One thing I have done with good results during the shoulder...

Re: Bananas in the Pacific Northwest?

Sorry, a little off topic here:D - bambusoides is an awesome plant!!! There was a fantastic grove near Redmond off the 405 at a nursery, the name of which I am not 100% sure about but might be Rock...

Re: Bananas in the Pacific Northwest?

Yeah it was a weird year. I have several mildly hardy C. gigantea bamboo (all divisions came from one plant), 3 of which usually die back to the ground, one that hasn't even hardly blinked at winter...

Re: "Musa itinetrans Mekong Giant / xishuangbannaensis" -Europe-

Does anyone know for sure what these seeds are? When I asked Jim at Seedman.com if he new what they were, he said he didn't know any more than what the supplier told him and labeled it as.

I am...

Re: How to breed (seedless) Bananas for Temperate climates

Red face Re: Bananas in the Pacific Northwest?

I realize this is an older thread, but I though I'd throw my limited experience with sikkimensis in. I lived in Beavercreek, OR for a number of years. Zone map says 8b but we had a bit more elevation...

I am currently trying...
