Re: Emergency dig up or do I need to relax

All mine were out all winter and didn't seem to need any special attention except for when it was constantly below freezing. Near the end of the winter they were able to take even 30-32 if it were...

Re: Mushy Brown SPots

I removed like three outer layers from one of mine so I didn't lose height. It finally seemed to stop spreading and is working on its 3rd leaf since trimming it back about 4-6 inches.

Re: Apple trees in back

I remember seeing some kind of "wax" to coat over. The more I check to more I see. Just one tree has at least 25 now and 10 fastly approaching the size of a dime. Way more productive than the last...

Re: I have SPRING FEVER so Badly!!! Anyone else???

Every day on the 10 day chart is high 60's or low 70's. Just had a few days hit 80 :) I put some Bannana Fuel on my plants last night, first time in about 4 months.

Re: I have SPRING FEVER so Badly!!! Anyone else???

Hit 80 here. My "big" Ice Cream is real thin now after removing the rot but its still 4ft+ tall. The smaller one had to be cut down just above the ground it still has maybe 4in. Cut that sucker...

Re: Cavendish cold hardiness temperature

Watching my own bananas I do not think its the actual cold that kills them (besides the leaves). Its the water freezing and bursting in the stem. If you don't get the liquid out they start to rot...

Re: I have SPRING FEVER so Badly!!! Anyone else???

I think the IC I got from you prefers it down here :D. 2/3 of my bananas are working on putting out a leaf (one of them is already out a lot).

Re: I have SPRING FEVER so Badly!!! Anyone else???

I see one 36 in the next 10 days. Hopefully not enough to kill the new leaf that will probably be finished by the end of the weekend. Grew out another 10" or so today.

Re: 'pruning' bananas

Mine stayed out all winter ;) Except the leaves were wrapped around it for insulation and tied up. Seems fine even with a week in the teens to mid 20's. Already getting a few days in the 70's!

Re: Frost Protection in South Florida!!!

Mine may make it as well (no question the corm). I may lose the outer layer on one. One of them had a few soft spots. What I did was cut a 1-2mm deep vertical line to let the moisture drain out so...
