Thanks a lot for the info. Kelp4less looks like a great place to get fertilizers. I definitely will be buying things from them. I don't know how well the liquid gold will work, but I'm considering...

Re: I definitely need some Banana plant advice.

Thanks Richard. My Saba used to grow well for me. I got it in October 2010, planted it in the ground in Spring 2011 and by that fall the banana was already as tall as I was. It did okay the next...

Re: Hello from Las Vegas

Welcome to the fourm. In your climate the best thing you can do for your banana plants is water and then when your finished watering in the morning, water again! They love full sun, and they can...

Re: Of cannas and bananas, under stress and in opulence.

Interesting pics, the healthy cannas look great! I think the reason why your first canna isnt in bloom yet is because it's a different variety than the other dark foliaged cannas in the other pics....

Welcome to the fourm! Living in the tropics is amazing for growing bananas, unfrotunately soil is a big limitation on many tropical islands, but the bananas usually manage to thrive anyways.

Re: can it be too hot for containers, even really big ones?

I think they will do okay in containers. Some bananas will do better than others. My bananas in the hottest parts of the yard usually wilt during the day and they are in the ground so I would imagine...

Re: I just want a yard like Rmplmnz!

You have to plant really fast growing varities like Saba, Nam Wah, Ensete, etc... And as for the grass thing, I would personally remove grass a few feet away from plants if possible only because...
