Re: Pineapples....
Abnshrek is right--mine are in 2-3 gallon size pots--I just add a small handfull of 10-10-10 every couple weeks in the summer. Mine are not even in full sun.

I have 2 pineapples that bloomed this summer--one is almost full size and should ripen soon, the other is about half size.

I just went back and looked up where I got my Ice Cream--it was Green Earth. Does anyone know if the Ice Cream from there was true?

Re: Lots of Raja Puri blooming
I will get some pics--mayb Friday.
I read about the discussion on Ice Cream bananas not being Ice Cream--the one I have made it thru the 2010 winter (low 20s) inground--the stem died but the new...

Re: Upper Gulf Coast members get-together
I think Raji Puri is better than Orinoco for thiss area--It blooms quicker and seems to be about the same as far as cold hardiness. The 3 varieites that I have that survived the winter of 09/10 are...

Lots of Raja Puri blooming
I haven't posted here in a while, I lost my last big Raji Puri bloom to a hard winter a couple yrs ago--as well as most of my not too hardy varieties, but last winter was mild and I now have 3 Raji...

Re: Surprise, Surprise
Yes, that is a Raji Puri. The mother plant was about 2 ft last summer when I planted it in the ground. It had grown nicely and I tried to protect it from the cold last winter--but I was not able to...

Re: Got my blueberry bushes...
Blueberries do best at pH closer to 5. As has been said they do not like wet feet, but they do need a moist soil--Mulch is good--it helps keep soil moist and drains well. When bluberries are...

Re: Beer, Beer, Beer
I am definitely a fan of brown beers, I do not like a lot of hops. I had a coworker that made a lot of beers and he had a chocolate brown that was awesome.

Re: My Red kru growth
I have to say, it is looking more and more like my unknown red is a kru. I have had at least 6 pups. I am surprised at how many are growing them considering how cold sensitive they are.

Re: Separating pups earlier than I probably should
A few weeks ago I cut an Ice Cream pup with no roots. I put it in a pot with compost and put the pot in a clear plastic bag and set it in the shade. Did the same with a pup I got from Abshrek and it...

Migael, how are you planning to get that Red Kru thru the winter? My unknown red has barely made it thru the last 2 winters.

Re: Just how fast a Orinoco can grow!
I had one grow to about 12 ft stem height last summer from a pup--some of the last leaves looked like they were almost 8 ft long! Unfortunatley, it did not make it thru the winter, but I already have...

Re: What did you plant today (bananas)?
I cut off one of the 3 pups on my IC, but it had no roots--so I potted it up and bagged it and moved it to the shade to give it a little better chance of making it. I think I will wait to cut one...

Re: Pups: Container grown vs. in ground bananas
I tend to keep a new variety in a pot until I know how well it can handle our winter. Once I get a few pups in the container, I plant it inground and collect a pup to hold in a container for backup....

Re: HELP!! My Ice Cream is looking real bad.
Like Salty said I would cut it back to clean tissue. That may mean almost half of the stem. I would put it back in filtered sun until you see some new growth. Did the plant have good roots when you...
