Re: pork roast wrapped in banana leaves a la crockpot

'Slap your mama' is a common phrase down here. I grew up hearing my uncles say.....................

"This gumbo is so good it'll make ya slap grandma".

The nostalgia of the saying has made the...

Re: pork roast wrapped in banana leaves a la crockpot

My roast came out great!! The banana leaf really gave it a good flavor.
First, I cut through the length of the roast with a knife, making a cavity through the middle of it. I then stuck a link of ...

Re: Garden Transformations

Ravensen,
That deck is awsome. I really like the bench.

Bob,
Your plants look like they are doing great.

I'm curious to know what kind of reaction you guys get from people that see your plants....

Re: Texas/Louisiana Member Meet-Up

iggles?
We lived there for a few years in the mid/late 80's when I was a kid. It was COLD in the winter. I do miss the great Italian food there though.

Re: Do Cycads have pups?

I'm not sure how a cycad can get cold damage to leaves that have not yet emerged. They grow out like a fern leaf. It does not form in the caudex and then emerge like a palm frond or a banana leaf....

Re: Do Cycads have pups?

I agree. I think magnesium and magnese are the common deficiencies for cycas in the southeast. Use a fert with microelements.

Re: Texas/Louisiana Member Meet-Up

I would like to go, but it's hard to say I'll be there with 100% certainty. With the kids it's hard to know what will come up.

Re: Palm Lovers' Talk - A place to talk Palms!
