they both mean the same thing, its actually sucker though, um theres also 2 types of suckers.....water suckers(NO GOOD.....DESTROY THEM) and Sword Suckers(GOOD.....these are what u want to keep)

that shouldn't be a problem if the pup is 1 foot away cause its really not attached to the mom it probably has a long rhizome looking thing instead of being 1 inch or right next to the mom

well depends also how many roots the pup has, i mean if it has alot then its ready to leave the mom :P so to speak :P yeah right in the middle....but first dig down and expose the the attaching mom...

dig until u see the corm underground and just slice right down the middle thats the easiest way to separate a pup cause its not really hurting the mother :D....lol thats what i would think is the...
