Re: Is this a flag?

The leaf before the flag will be half the size of a regular leaf. That is when you will know when the flag leaf is coming.

Re: Ice cream banana question

If your bananas are cold hardy then they can withstand overnight temps in the high 40s. My ice cream bananas can take that. The leaves may start yellow after extended time but the stalk survives. So,...

Re: Newly planted ice Cream Banana sprouted a pup!

I've seen it before on 2ft banana plants. Sprouted several pups. My guess is the shipping stress on a nice healthy corm does that.

Looks normal to me. The stalk expands in girth as it grows.

Re: florida variegated on etsy

I don't think you'll have to worry about that. I doubt you'll get what you ordered. Lots of scams like this on etsy nowadays. The good news is you can contact etsy to get your money back pretty...

Re: Looking for trusted sellers of Variegated AeAe

Unfortunately the Aeae is very elusive here. Some members put them up for sale from time to time but its really sparse.

Re: Help identify variegated banana

I would guess a nono with bad genetics. I have several nono TCs and not one looks like the pictures you see online. Mine range from looking like Siam Rubies to yellow/green versions of musa florida....

That's definitely a nono. A nice one at that. I have several from TC and not one looks that nice(yet).

Re: Musa Nono

I haven't tried this myself yet but maybe it can work for you. Paint the outside of your pot white. Or keep one side white and the other dark. That way you can face it depending on how much heat you...

Re: Two Musa Florida for sale

I guess I could have said that a little differently. What I was trying to say is people that do planted tanks (aquascapes) do not use the regular aquarium gravel. Aquarium plants don’t grow well in...

Re: Two Musa Florida for sale

I'm not sure what about pon that makes it different from aquarium rock. My only guess is the porosity of pon is higher. If you talk to anyone that has planted fish tanks they'll tell you that the...

Re: Two Musa Florida for sale

Hi PR,

It's been an up and down ride for sure. I've tried different soil mixes (Potting, garden soil, top soil mixes with perlite with some success and some failure. I actually came across using PON...

Re: Seeds From Blue Java Ice Cream Bananas

According to Lechuza PON's website it can also retain up to 40% of its volume in water. I have been told that Alocasias are prone to root rot but I haven't had any issues with them using Pon. I think...

Re: Free Variegated Florida

Here is one I managed to save. Took two months to recover :S. Cut off all rotting roots. Dried it for a week. I would only add enough water so that I could see a little in the bottom of the cup. The...

Re: Free Variegated Florida

I recommend using it with a clear pot/container. Easy to see how much water is there and can identify browning roots much quicker.

Re: Free Variegated Florida

Sorry dude. I've had some success recovering rotting corms by putting them in Lechuza PON. Its expensive but I haven't lost a water sensitive plant while using it.
