I might grow corn and ramps and other "normal" stuff for WV but nanners are more fun.

Re: City Life Here I Come!
Some of the stuff you can get at the vets office works good. I've also heard that lemon juice works good too. Just don't get it in the eyes it stings.

Re: Learning about banana id'ing
It just takes exposure to different varieties and experience(time) to begin identifying them. Some differences are subtle and some are extreme. It also is often easier to tell what a banana is not...

Re: Who am I?

I don't think your plant has enough of a pink tinge to the pseudostem and petioles to be 'Ice Cream'. The 'Orinoco' has more of a yellow tinge.
Your young...

Re: Bananas.org Members Yard Photos

Re: Wintering SDC bananas
That's basicaly what I do with my DC and my other non-hardy bananas that I have in the ground. I don't actually wash off the soil and let them dry in the sun though. I just brush it off with a hand...

Re: Mini Grocery Store Bananas
A while back I ran across this page done by a banana label collector. (http://www.geocities.com/ferrobanana/plu.htm) It details the different PLU numbers on banana labels.
His main page is here...

Re: Shipping prices changed DRASTICALLY!
That is a drastic change!
You may want to look into priority flat rate boxes.
If your shipment fits into a large flat rate box (12" x 12" x 5.5") and weighs no more than 70 pounds then it costs...

Re: fert going bad?
If you have any gypsum left over it would be good to go ahead and spread it around the rest of the soil further out from the plants. Treat the entire area not just the planting hole. Gypsum works...

Re: fert going bad?
The sulfur in the gypsum will release the minerals, and if your soil is high in free lime content and is alkaline you can add additional sulfur to further release the minerals.

Re: Hello once agian. :)
The banana and tomatoe should really like the compost/manure level. The Poinsettia will also do well as long as it isn't soggy. when they are actively growing they like the soil fertile and moist...
