Some of the stuff you can get at the vets office works good. I've also heard that lemon juice works good too. Just don't get it in the eyes it stings.

It just takes exposure to different varieties and experience(time) to begin identifying them. Some differences are subtle and some are extreme. It also is often easier to tell what a banana is not...

I don't think your plant has enough of a pink tinge to the pseudostem and petioles to be 'Ice Cream'. The 'Orinoco' has more of a yellow tinge.

Yep, did the archway myself. I made a topiary frame out of 1/4 inch steel wire to guide me when trimming and help support the weight of snow. Then let the hedge...

That's basicaly what I do with my DC and my other non-hardy bananas that I have in the ground. I don't actually wash off the soil and let them dry in the sun though. I just brush it off with a hand...

That shiny dried up slime is probably a snail trail from snails and / or slugs. They leave those tracks behind as evidense of their crimes against your plants.

LOL. It might be. I haven't looked. But being the make it myself from scratch kinda nut that I am, I would likely just throw together a CO2 generator and make it myself even if it cost more.

If you have any gypsum left over it would be good to go ahead and spread it around the rest of the soil further out from the plants. Treat the entire area not just the planting hole. Gypsum works...

Ahhh, so they aren't getting pure gypsum then. It likely contains lots and lots of free calcium not yet combined with sulphur.

The sulfur in the gypsum will release the minerals, and if your soil is high in free lime content and is alkaline you can add additional sulfur to further release the minerals.

Actually it does. Water(H2O) plus Carbon Dioxide(CO2) equals H2CO3 equals Carbonic Acid. However not all of the Cabon Dioxide...

Since you said "plugs" I'm thinking that you really do mean plugs, like about 1-2 inches diameter plug a couple or 3 inches tall with a plant less than 9 inches tall? If so then they may be hurting...

The banana and tomatoe should really like the compost/manure level. The Poinsettia will also do well as long as it isn't soggy. when they are actively growing they like the soil fertile and moist...
