we had this winter also temperatures lower then -21 (not here, bit more to the east) but they will come back. it also depends a little how deep the corms are in the ground, deeper in the ground they...

its terrible what happens overthere.
fortunately it is cooling down in melbourne, they had a heat record of 47c but now it is around 20 c, much cooler!:)

its here 5c today, i think that is around 40F? yesterday the whole day rain and snow and now sun. i cant wait for spring and i cant wait to move to a warmer country!

it is still small, if it survives the winter it will become big this summer but I'll see what I'll do with my ensete when that happens.
@Remco; in the winter 06/07 was a unprotected musa somewhere...

ofcourse they will come back, I don't think that the pstem dies, only the leaves are death but that will regrow quickly.

they are also quite expensive here, but that doesnt matter, the are delicious (and my parents buy them)
I want to taste bananas in the tropics, the taste is much better then the bananas here!

that zone map is old,
west belgium and holland are also for a part in zone 9 and i dont think that moscow is zone 4/5, it is a zone 6.
a large ensete has not a big problem if it gets once beneath...
