I'v posted this several times already. I use something simple like Ortho garden spray, green spray bottle, from HD or Lowes. Pretty simple stuff - not systemic, no smell.

Many South Florida soils are actually neutral to alkaline because they are underlain by limestone, so it would take gallons of urine to change the pH very much.

Dog excrement is high in nitrogen and if it were anything other than bananas, I'd say to watch out about burning the roots, but you should be OK.

a healthy plant or tree will have almost a fresh smell to it mixed with an earthy smell. if it smells like wet cardboard dont buy it. i will pull a plant or tree out of the pot and smell the roots...

Pretty fast once they get going a few months after you plant it, and also when Spring comes... Feed it good though so it can sustain the growth. Lots of compost, water, etc.

Very important. You definitely want the medium N, low P and high K ratio. Banana need more potassium than N and P. If your soil is generally poor, you can use a ratio 1-1-4 (like 9-9-36 fertilizer)....
