Re: Which varieties produce edible fruit in the shortest period of time?

I agree with you, but as with many forums (or is it fora plural ?!) on the internet, the same questions have been asked over and over again, because new members are just too lazy to search for the...

Re: Anybody growing pineapple in ca ?

I bought my Sugarloaf Variety from Wellsprings and can highly recommend them. Plants are beautiful, but they have not fruited yet, so I can not comment if I really got what I have ordered.

Re: Taking the Thailand chance!

Bananas can be imported into the US. I've brought corms from the Philippines before. The only requirement is that the corm or plant is free of any soil or chemicals. If sent by mail or carrier,...

Re: Taking the Thailand chance!

From what I gather , as long as your under 12 plants your good to go as long as a phyto certificate is included. Lol its definitely a shot in the dark , but to me the GM is worth it.

Re: Highest yielding bananas?

I think the answer depends on your climate. In mine, any of the Namwah varieties would top the list (like Lau said), with "Fake Ice Cream" topping the list. With a warmer climate the varieties with...

FHIA-17
FHIA-1
Williams

Those would be 1,2, and 3 for me. By far the heaviest bunch I have ever harvested was a FHIA-17.

Re: Highest yielding bananas?

You might want to think about a banana plant that will produce fruit every year. I'm in Zone 10 and the Namwah, Raja Puri and my fake Goldfinger produce every year. Out of those three plants I like...

Re: shade fruits in zone 9 ?

You are thinking of true mangosteen (garcinia mangostana) which is ultra tropical. The ones I have listed will grow in the subtropics and take some freezing temps. I think the lemon drop mangosteen...

Re: Canistel: Tropo vs. Oro

I've never had a dry canistel, moist yes, dry no. If canistel were like mango I wouldn't eat them.

I have a Fairchild #2 canistel, and it's delicious, albeit moist not juicy!

Re: Is there anything I can do about raccoons?

I found that pieces of apple are the best all around bait...
