We have mostly sandy soil here, but I trucked in 120 tons of top soil and I put about 12 cubic feet of potting soil with every banana I plant, so I'm not sure how much water they can take with that...

JC, any rubbing alcohol will do. You can get it at Walgreens or even your grocery store. It doesn't leave a bad odor...if anything it smells clean.

Freezepruf, is not nearly as effective on woody stem plants. I would imagine the Strelitziaceae family falls into that catagory eventually. But if 3 degrees is all you need then it's for you. The...

I only use 1 teaspoonful per plant every month in spring and summer as a magnesium supplement. It tends to wash out pretty quickly but I think it helps keep the plants green and the leaves...
