Well, the banana plant is not a tree. What appears to be a tree trunk is actually left stems coming out of the underground corm (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corm). It is an herb that flowers.

I will say no, I asked this question before and most agreed It would not,since then I now have plants every six foot or so down my concrete no issues.
