Depotted - i saw your other post about tissue culture? a piece of corm is not a tissue culture. if your chunk of corm had roots and/or an eye it should work. very much like planting seed potatoes

Cavendish is not as cold hardy as the varieties mentioned above - Zone 8 is iffy depending on how protected it is - Zone 9A here and cavendish isn't dependable - namwa, orinoco, raja are a better...

My namwas have a purple band on the base of immature fingers - assuming mine are namwas.
I don't see any bands on these

Zone 9A sometimes 8B - Orinoco and namwah are the most cold hardy I've experienced but our ground doesn't freeze - I doubt it would work -
