Re: Musa basjoo never makes it

I bet it flowers this year for you. I used to bring many non hardy large varieties in for the winter by simply whacking the psuedostem in half. Then you can let them go dormant in a cool spot or if...

Re: Need Musa Blue Java Banana Advice

Blue Java and Ice cream are one and the same. I've never heard of a dwarf variety of this cultivar.

Times have changed!

Years ago I was very active here and grew over 30 varieties of bananas. Getting a Gros Michel plant was akin to catching a leprechaun! I did manage to get a couple at great expense sent from Hawaii...

Re: Need Musa Blue Java Banana Advice

I'd be very skeptical. I've never heard of a dwarf or semi dwarf Blue Java. The regular Ice cream banana is one of the few I've been able to harvest ripe fruit from and they definitely don't have...

Re: New tree not growing.. help!

I've found when you move plants to a bigger container or, in this case from container to the ground the roots will grow out faster than the top growth. I know from experience patience is tough but...

Re: Dwarf Cavendish - Browning/Dying leaves?

It's totally normal . That's how they grow. The young leaves die off way quicker than the older ones. Every dead leaf you're closer to a mature fruiting plant.

Re: Florida Variegated ?

It looks to me like an Ae Ae..... depends on your zone and microclimate where to plant it. If you're in sub tropical area I would plant in an area that gets morning sun and dappled afternoon if at...
