Re: Is Musa "Ice-Cream" the same as Namwah?

100% different plants. Blue java are actually surprisingly rare as they are sometimes confused with namwa.

how hardy is tanee and variagated ice cream?

How hardy are these 2 bananas? What's the lowest temp they will take? can they tolerate cool weather? are they easy or hard to root and grow?

thanks

Re: where to get blue java banana seeds for the uk

Re: where to get blue java banana seeds for the uk

I may be wrong but my understanding is that the Blue java is a triploid, therefore has the genetic predeposition of parthenocarpy. so can't have seeds.

If there were seeds, then it won't be the...

Re: Variegated Cold Hardy Bananas

Prices in the UK are high as the market isn't the same as in the US. However, some plants which are TC are becoming common. i.e. Musa Florida. It's now very available, I'd still say it's rare but...

Banana domestication

Hi All,

bit of a science question here.

i was wondering what polyploid hybrids are. From what I gather. We've moved from diploids to edible diploids to triploids through meiotic restitution. then...

Re: What causes stem rot?

Thanks PRGaint.

Good info to know! I guess the other type with the main centre leaf snapping and rotting is caused by overwatering.
