Re: Flood Irrigation and Banana Plant Location (and Citrus tree location)

Usually you are only allowed flood irrigation on a schedule, here in AZ it would be a day every week or two, but yours might be different. This would very much impact your plans.

Re: Questions about transplanting pups

You are fine, I have a rule of not cutting pups over 110F as it makes them stall and sometimes rot.

Re: Newbie questions - planting design and types for 9a

I would get Dwarf Namwah and maybe goldfinger rather than the double or “ice cream” which likely won’t be real anyway.

Excellent results with plants from here, owners a member....

Re: What's the smallest piece of corm you've managed to grow into a full plant?

Honestly I totally ignored it. It was in my pop up winter greenhouse along with my other pups and TCs and I had just left it for dead.

It got inadvertently watered because I just didn’t move it out...

Re: What's the smallest piece of corm you've managed to grow into a full plant?

I had a Pisang Ceylon tissue culture die back to a piece the size of a toothpick, with just a touch of green on top.

Came back and turned into a great 4ft plant in 4 months.

Re: Raja Puri pup leaves bunching

My goldfingers tend to do this when they switch from slow Spring growth to fast summer growth. The leaves just can’t get out of the way fast enough.

Usually takes care of itself in a few weeks.

Re: New Banana Grower in Phoenix

Not the best time to plant so you will have to be extra loving.

Totally normal with the droop, they should bounce back at night when the sun is off of them in the evening and in the morning. if not...

Re: Did I overfertilize?

If you are not getting burns I would keep going. I don’t give as much phosphorus and just use Urea and Potash according to Ty’s pushing fertilizer formula.

Currently I have:

Re: Did I overfertilize?

Looks good for a moderately pushed younger plant. I get some spotty leaf burn on mine in addition to twisted up leaves so you are still looking ok.

Re: Building a desert banana patch, Phoenix AZ

I’ll probably order another set at the end of March if I can’t find some more developed. We are still having nights in the low 40s and days in the 70-80s so the TCs need Extra care until our temps...
