If you leave them in your garage and they freeze, you will probably lose them. I think if you want to keep them you will have to put them in your basement.

I have always treated spider mites with a little castile soap in water. Spray every 3 days to disrupt the cycle. I have never heard of mites being in the soil and I wouldn't repot. Just use the soap...
