Mulch straw and heavy duty tarp works very well for me. I leave a couple of the bottom edges not staked down so it can breath some. They are a really hardy plant.

There are other growers in Canada look at what they are doing to theirs but just straw and mulch and covered should be more then enough. I went over board last year they didn't want to stay dormant...

I'm in zone 5 and we have cold winters. I even left some uncovered and they died down to the corm but put out pups. Every year mine get bigger and bigger. If it's not in the ground I wouldn't do it...

Yeah I would next spring plant the basjoo in the ground they do so much better and are easy to over winter in our area.

Basjoo would be great for outdoors they are really cold hardy and fast growers. If you plant one this year you should do it soon cause this year all you will be really doing is letting the root zone...

I would leave them on. Some things to know after bringing them in is don't over water that's very important and the easiest way to kill it indoors.let it get dry before watering again and don't water...

They will be fine just leave them be and watch the watering. Don't fertilize until they start growing. The were probably just separated from the mother and they need to adjust to life on their own....
