Re: Surprise Visitor! Share your bug and little critter pictures with me!

This is a fly I found on my asimina triloba. I've never seen this before. It's definitely got a large badonkadonk....

Re: Southern Weather Forecast

Yep! I'm in N.C. too--the foothills. It's supposed to be in the twenties here. I'm not looking forward to the cold. I lost a lot of plants last winter. I don't want a repeat performance.

Re: Who's growing cactus

Here is my cactus. I don't know what kind. My grandfather grew it before he passed on. I swiped a pad posthumously as a remembrance. I am keeping it potted, as it can be...

Re: Dragon Fruit

I purchased a grafted moon cactus. The moon died, but the hylocereus lived. I am trying to guess what variety it is. I compared it to my Physical Graffiti, Selenicereus megalanthus, and Delight. ...

Re: What is blooming in your garden today (other plants)?

Gosh! The soursop info worries me. I am cultivating asimina triloba pawpaw, a close relative to soursop. It has high levels of annonacin too. My trees are all set to bloom for the first time next...

Re: Citrus help needed.

Thanks for the info! The plant has been in full sun since May. I'll leave it in full sun until the temps dip to frost and freeze. Sounds like I'll have tangerines for Thanksgiving.

Citrus help needed.

I purchased a dwarf citrus reticulata Citura tangerine years ago. It flowered for the first time this spring and has fruit. I read some literature that said some tangerines are ripe when green...

Re: Dragonfruit.

O.K., so how are Abnshrek's buds and flowers doing? Also, I watched some of my DF new growth. Sometimes I can see tiny droplets of a sticky, sap-like substance. Perhaps this is what the ants are...

Re: Gonna Hurt My Cat

Kat2,

Love your anecdote. Great way to put a positive spin on a cat that's about to only have 8 lives left.

Gonna Hurt My Cat

My potted 3-feet-tall dwarf cavendish has been outside for a month now. It has not been doing anything--no pups, only one leaf, not dying but not really living. While I was checking the PH level...

Re: Attack of the Mockingbirds - haaaalp!

Just had to chuckle at this thread. I like the tennis racket idea with its "level of comfort." I've never experienced the situation before. I have had a squirrel that kept attacking my leg every...

Re: Bummed 'Bout my Bananas

I may have had a pity party a little too soon. I went out to my greenhouse to lament and guess what I found--a banana pup. Yippee!!! I'm glad my nanner didn't give up as easily as I did. I don't...

Bummed 'Bout my Bananas

This winter kicked my derrière. Every nanner that I left out in the greenhouse and those planted in the ground are dead. My only survivors are one DC, two TT, and one SDC, all of which I brought...

Re: Dw.Namwah vs. Raja Puri Vs. Mysore/Pisang Ceylon

Thanks for the thread. I am pretty disgusted with my DC's right now. They keep sending up flowers around Thanksgiving; though I bring them indoors, there is not enough light to ripen the fruit,...

Re: global warming WTF EVER! LETS GET SOME PICS OF PINEAPPLES!!!

Well the 3-year-old plant is showing beginning signs of fruiting. The center of the plant is spreading, preparing for the inflorescence to pass through. I'll post a pic when I can. There is not...

Re: Southern Weather Forecast

It's amazing how we got the biggest snowfall in many years and a week later we are breaking record highs. Strange.

Re: Another winter flower

It's been another two weeks, and the fruit is still hanging on. The fruits are 2.5 to 3.5 inches long. They are plumping up, albeit very slowly. There are only 3 leaves left on the plant though. ...

Re: What is blooming in your garden today (other plants)?

Your sun room is beautiful. Seems like a great place for any plant to bloom.
