My experience living in McKinleyville, CA (specifically 40°55'58 N, 124° 5'6 W) was that a little frost was ok. Light snow would freeze and kill outer leafs. If the snow melted off in a day and core of the plant and the roots did not freeze, the plants live on.

That's good to hear. The water is heated to 67 degrees although it's going to be loosing some heat in the flow cycle. We're keeping continuous flow during this cold snap and during the night even on nicer days instead of flood and drain until it warms up. And they're covered so I'm thinking we should be ok. We're experimenting with this first one and I have more starts in the house ready to replace them.
