These are beautiful plants with medium-green to rosy-colored leaves, spotted with yellow and red dots, and banded in silver. Very colorful foliage and inflorescences.

These are vigorous bromeliads that pup freely, so there always seem to be some of them blooming. When grown in mostly shade conditions, the reverse of the leaves is purplish.

They are trouble-free, and like dappled lighting or shade conditions and protection from afternoon sun (which will scorch their leaves) and frost.

This Bromeliad likes it on the dry side. Too much water will rot their roots. Grow them in a container or add to the landscape in Zone 9B or warmer. If you live in a warm area, these can be planted outside around the trunk of a large shade tree; just stack them against the tree trunk, add some garden soil to cover the roots, water well to establish good roots.
