radical pruning to storm damaged red bananas

Poster: drturf (see this users gallery) These two reds were nearly snapped in half during a late summer storm and needed a radical pruning. The second photo is the new growth after 48 hours in the greenhouse. Has anyone had any success with this type of cut?
