I planted Dwarf Brazillian (aka Hawaiian Apple) along my street while building my house for eventual privacy. You can see how quickly they grow when able to year round with 60-100" of rain per year. This is in NO SOIL, just the chunky lava rock called a'a. They were spot planted with some SuperSoil, mulched with free municipal mulch, and given Hawaii specific 10-5-40 fertilizer.
