This taro can be had cheaply on the mainland, and cooked up for making poi. (It is meant for another dish with coriander and chard, which comes with it in the package. That part can be nuked for 1 1/2 minutes and eaten as is, quite tasty.) For poi I pressure cooked the cubes, probably about 15 min. The taro tastes OK, but lacks stickiness, or "ulika". This you can add (thanks Chong) by boiling a green cooking banana (like plantain) and adding that to the mix. (I haven't tested this yet.)
