After the leaves got burned, I wrapped up my California Gold and my Rajapuri and added (what else ? :-)) banana leaves and pstems to the layer of mulch I already had.

Would like to know what material you use to wrap up your banana plants, plastic, paper, or cloth? I may apply the same concept to my tropical plant next winter after planting them in the ground. Thanks!

It's cloth. It's been advertised for frost protection of plants. I used several layers of course.
The mulch is in total about 20 cm (7 - 8 inches) thick. It's bark mulch (from pine trees) below the banana leafs/pstems "leftovers". I will add some more bark mulch around the plants to fill the gaps between the fresh cut banana waste.
