female flowers

I'm removing the dried female flowers from the individual fingers, since a lot of them seem to be persistent. I dont want to encourage rot. Ive seen some people leave them on,then the bunch rots. i guess the possibility of this happening depends on where you live. i do this as a p.m.
also i found its easier to count the fingers as i remove these flowers...89 fingers on this smaller bunch.

Looking good man! In the Growingg bananas DVD the commercial growers always remove the flowers so it must be the best thing to do. Never thought about them promoting rot but it makes sense that they'd hold moisture.

well the nectar oozing from the flowers has sugar and sugar feeds bacteria.. i think heat/humidity/food source= trouble. like i said i do it as a p.m. lots of people leave em on.
