11-9-09. These are my Fave trees! Dunno what they are but they have soft, feathery leaves & make great looking nuts! Very firey too, in the fall!

Pretty sure it's a Bald Cypress. They have em all over here in St. Louis...but I'd never seen them till I came here.

Hard to distinguish by the picture, but here is a bit of info to help you figure this one out... They are hard to tell the difference;;;;


Probably the most reliable indicator is the arrangement of leaves on the little deciduous branchlets. On dawn redwood they're opposite, while on bald cypress they're alternate.

Thanx guys Smile !! It was easy to pull a bunch of the leaves off cause they were in a straight row on either side of the branch so I guess it must be a dawn redwood then.
