they look like cypress on the bayou...is this flooding temporary or is it like this all the time???

Ron,
Even though his farm is on the lakeside, according to my friend, this hasn't happened since 1912. So, this is the first time this has happened since he got the farm 10 - 15 years ago.

And yes, in that picture, it does look like the bayou. But the grass is like the chickweed grass here in the NW. They could be anywhere from 3 - 6 feet tall, and not normally underwater. The floaters in the background, near some bananas, are water lilies from the lake. Even those bananas were above ground before the storm, only they are closer so they are submerged deeper.
