I believe it's probably in the same classification as a Flavicarpa, but I got this one when in Kaua'i, and they said it's Lilikoi, which has been used by the Hawai'ians for making drinks, desserts, etc for a long time.. But, it wasn't purchased from a commercial grower. If you've been to Kaua'i, then it's one of those stands in front of someone's house that they sell what grows on their own property or in their neighborhood.
Yes, it's growing outdoors, and only has a slight setback when we have our hottest days where it might spike above 90, because apparently, this class doesn't do well... sort of like the Banana Poka. I've lost one before when it was 96-97 one year.
