Ive concluded that the ID Tapo "PNG" refers to this Musa as coming from Papua New Guinea. I did find some information stating that this is a chimera or 'sport'. This means there is a 'normal' colored Musa Tapo. In turn, this leads me to believe that TC will be problematic. I haven't been able to find any solid information regarding its origin, classification, etc., except that it is AA Diploid. I would appreciate ANY information about this Musa!

"Siam Ruby", (actually a 'sport' of Musa Tapo) as it is more commonly known now in 2010 (since it has been TC'd to death into the less impressive not-so-rare, every-one-has-one plant). This photo was 2 yrs old in 2007, before anyone knew what this then rare Musa was; selling in excess of $2000, IF available at that time. When it was brought into the US years later, the first few suckers went for around $800-$1000. Now it is in Home Depot for $12.95...The ruination of a once very sought after rare treasure of the Musa family. It is the only known 5 or 6 ploid banana to be discovered, suggesting that it is a small desert banana. To date, I have not seen any photos, information, or description of the flower or fruit. I find this very strange indeed.
