I planted that last fall. I read that you are suppose to take all the flowers off the first year so that the plant grows a strong root system. This way you get great blueberries the second year. The picture is deceptive though. It looks like a blueberry but it almost had no taste at all. It was like a bland gooseberry if you have ever had one of those. I don't know if its the variety,I think it was Berkley, age of the bush or the soil is not right. I am trying to google for the answer on blueberries that don't taste like blueberries.

If it was green inside it wasn't ripe even if the color changed outside. Mine did the same thing. When they were really ripe the birds took 99% of them Wink

Yes, I read that this year also. I didn't know that at first. After a blueberry plumps up and turns blue you need to wait two or three days for it to ripen. I waited over a week on some. They are not sour, they are ripe, its just that they do not taste like blueberries. Maybe I've lost my blueberry taste buds! I have some other varieties that taste like blueberries by varying degrees. I just bought that Miracle grow vegetable garden soil mix and planted them in raised beds. I know that they prefer acidic soil around 5.0-6.0. Its just strange. Maybe as a plant matures the berries flavor changes?
