To overwinter, all the leaves are cut off and the plants are dug up, potted, & stored in a spare room. It can take as long as a month for the plant to re-establish itself & commence new leaf growth. These Blue bananas have survived 2 Oklahoma winters.

Hi Bob,
From what I was told, it's an Ice Cream but, as they say, the real proof is in the pudding. Will be sending more photos as all 4 of them (and thier pups) progress. If you can see any actual proof-of-species (one way or another), please let me know.

Hi Bob,
Got back with the guy I got the original pup from; they're definitely Blue Javas. A little added info : If you install a rhizome barrier, be sure to leave 1/2 inch above ground & watch, every few weeks, for runners trying to 'jump the fence'. If a runner does try to go over the barrier, simply cut it off.
