This is a mat on the side of a compost pile in Gulf Shores, Al. If I had taken the pic with a camera you would be able to see the bunches and all the pot shaped root balls that have been thrown on the pile.

Random compost bananas is how I got my first two, actually. My boss at the time was a professor at a college and threw a banana corm she thought was 'dead' in the compost pile at her farm and it grew. So when fall came, she offered me a couple before frost hit.
