Naranjilla harvest in the Mera area

Photo Details
Poster: lorax  (see this users gallery)

This photo is from the Ecuadorean journal El Comercio, and shows one of the many Naranjilla plantations that are found in the Llanganates Bajo biodiversity corridor. This is an area that sees about 4 days of sunlight in a year; otherwise it is clouded and often raining. The plant in the photo is producing the giant juicing cultivar 'Pastaza'

I bet they have some sore (or tough!) hands. Those fuzzy spines on there are like fiberglass or small cactus spines. You find those in your skin for days. Great picture. I give this one an 11!
