Does "In Ecuador almost everybody" have a comma after Ecuador? Serious question... I might have been making a mistake this whole time!

Taylor, it can be both ways; in this context, the lack of comma is correct, but in a longer compound sentence it is completely correct to put one there.

Definitely correct; commas are a "neccessary" evil - merely a method of separation where clarity comes into question. Here, however, the thought is clearly conveyed.
