Great! Wish I could grow bananas here. Our season is too short.

Thanks for the ratings. I feel the bunches are a little sparse, but being my first fruits, I'm a happy camper. I'm thinking of cutting the male bud off and cooking it. I read that the plantain types are better suited for eating, so I'm thinking the Dwarf Orinoco will kinda fall into that group as it's fruit is eaten both ways (cooked or dessert). In future years, I'll fertilize a bit more (not much this year), protect it better thru the winter (it had essentially no real protection), and cut fewer pups off just before it blooms (yes, I cut 2 pups off about 2 weeks before the flag leaf). That should go a long way to getting bigger bunches.

There is no excuse for still having grass. I haven't mowed in 20 years. With all that space, I could plant another 100 bananas.
