A very fast grower. I've read that they have better color in full sun, but this does not hold true to S. Louisiana. It would not hold more than three leaves before the oldest one started to wilt. I moved it to this spot with a little more shade and it is doing much better.

UPDATE Siam ruby is not hardy at all. Did not come back from a mild winter with a low of only 28F

it looks great, did it seem to grow slower when it was in full sun?

It was still very fast in full sun. It put out a new leaf every 5-7 days. But by the time the 3rd leaf started to unroll, the oldest one would start to wilt. Keep in mind we have high heat and extreem humidity here with a heat index of over 100F on a regular basis during summer.

Everything looks great to you leave your Bird of Paradise out over the winter there?

Thanks for the compliments everyone.
Tophersmith,
That area is going to be covered with a temporary greenhouse this winter. I'm trying to get the heliconia to bloom next year. I had som BOP outside last winter that came back after being frozen.
