this is the area that i have been cleaning out and removing plants from. all of the black dirt that is there i put in myself.just in this area(i expanded it today about 4 ft to make it wider) went about 35-45 bags of good potting mix last year.( they were the big bags) the area is really a lot bigger then it looks.

Did you use Potting Mix or Garden Soil? I would advise Garden Soil next time you did this as Potting Mix might have a different composition (also contains perlite).

is it not right to use the perilite outside? or does it cause too much drainage?
