Other than the fact you don't have to dig this up (which in itself would be a great advantage) are there any other advantages to this method of overwintering? Does the plant resume its height from there and is that burlap wrapped first around the ps. Great pics to give an idea of what has been talked about here.

Well its in its second year and being up here in the wild wintery north I would rather leave it outside than disturb it by digging it up. Besides, I don't really have a convenient environment for storage.
Last year was a mild winter and I only lost about a foot of psuedostem. The ps is wrapped in burlap, with a coco fibre wrap around the base as well as around the three pups. I brought a few pups in the house just in case we get record cold up here. I also have a wireless thermometer on it to monitor the temperatures close to the edge of the cage and so far the reading hasn't dropped below 1.2C with external temps of -11C. If I hear reports of temps going below -20C I'll turn the heating cables on for an hour or two. The cage is stuffed with straw and wrapped with double burlap and seems to be protecting it very well for now.
The only problem ahead of me (if all goes well) will be timing the unveiling in the spring which is always tricky.

I usually just whack my basjoos down in the winter and last year ended up with 1 ps of about 9ft and 3 more that made it to 6ft. So I'm wondering if I can get a bigger ps by this method. Looks like something I could do. Thanks for the pics and the instructions.
