I saw pictures of this rare musa about 10 yrs ago. A US collector had purchased 2 from a guy in the UK for $250 ea. They were ID'd as chimeras of Musa 'Tapo' native to Borneo. In the past few years they have been growing in private collections in Thailand (selling for $2000+),and in the last 2 years a handful have been brought into the US. I understand they are currently in TC. IF its a chimera, exact clones are doubtful. IF its a species, they should be able to produce exact clones. I have seen them labeled as 'Red Thai' and 'Red Png'. I think 'Red Thai' is probably just a common US description, and 'Red Png' is the common Thai description. Im holding onto the Latin descriptive of 10 yrs ago ('Tapo'), until it has been researched further by the scientific community.
