Re: What's the best propagation method for this situation?

I'm basically doing this how you posted except with a slight variation.

Letting the Gen 1 Plant power the Gen 2 Plant works great as you stated.

This method allows me to remove the Gen 2 Plant and...

Re: What's the best propagation method for this situation?

It is.

Yeah, making that nicely variegated pup the dominate pup was the first thing I did.

Usually when starting with a slightly variegated mother plant getting one nicely variegated pup is rare...

Re: Yellow Sigatoka treatment

You are more likely to see success with following PR-Giants' advice, they're one of the most experienced growers on here. They're so skilled at growing plants others consider difficult, I sometimes...

Re: What's the best propagation method for this situation?

I assume it would be an in ground plant. I do not know if this would be the best way but it is the one I have used successfully before. I would cut off the mother plant near soil level and then kill...

What's the best propagation method for this situation?

I have a lightly variegated non dwarf Pisang Awak mother plant that has several pups and one of the pups is a nicely variegated sword. I'd like to quickly propagate this nicely variegated pup without...

Re: Experimenting with creating filtered coarse sand for corms

The river stuff is the most coarse, but appears to be the closest to PR-Giants sand? That stuff went through my 1/4 inch mesh. I have put some coins in pics, as a lot of times when looking at...

Re: Experimenting with creating filtered coarse sand for corms

In the stream I am using metal lathe, which is similar to 1/4 inch hardware cloth for initial getting big stuff/rocks out, then window screen size to get fines out. And a lot of washing and rinses...

Re: Experimenting with creating filtered coarse sand for corms

Nothing yet today, at 8 days. Of course, I never expected really quick results, as these were all "stressed, not perfect corms".....I'm hoping to "see some action" within a couple of more weeks...

Re: Yellow Sigatoka treatment

For the past 5 decades I've watched the banana farm across the street go out of business and restart under new ownership multiple times because of sigatoka.

There are many options that makes...

Re: First flower! Dwarf Orinoco

You probably meant to ask which Cultivars are typically able to yield seed?

Use the word varieties when including both Wild bananas (aka seeded bananas) and Cultivars (aka seedless bananas -...

Re: Yellow Sigatoka treatment

Assuming your Gran Nain in Australia is the same as in the USA, yes, it is a Cavendish clone. Sometimes different clone lineages react differently to the same disease, so it's worth trying if you can...

Re: Yellow Sigatoka treatment

Thank you; that link is interesting - it says Cavendish are prone to sigatoka which makes sense as I have a few other varieties (lady finger ect) right next to them which aren't affected.
I'm...

Re: First flower! Dwarf Orinoco

Thanks, PR-Giants.

No, I haven't pollinated the female flowers. That does sound very interesting. Unfortunately, there's very little banana cultivation in northern California, although it's more...

Re: Yellow Sigatoka treatment

As unfortunate as the situation is, deleafing may be required if the disease has gone past a certain stage. Fungicide might work if you caught it early, but isn't guaranteed to fix it. Here's a guide...

Re: Veinte Cohol Pups Arrived - It Begins!

Would you recommend watering every day for these small...
