I think a live oak root had grown right through the rootball last year and was draining all the water...

Re: Shortest/Dwarfiest Banana to Flower?
Thank you! That's awesome! It did push out a sucker so I guess we'll see with that one. It's possible it was cut too - I can't be certain as I got it from a local gardener here a couple months ago...

Musa Velutinito
Musa Velutiny
Figured I'd come up with some names for you cool genetically mutated plant!

Shortest/Dwarfiest Banana to Flower?
Found my pink velvet (Musa velutina) to be in the process of flowering. The thing is, it is only a foot tall! From what I've gathered online these should grow to 4 to 7 ft tall (~1.5-2m).
Do you...

The Pink Velvet (Musa velutina) is somehow flowering. It's only about 1 ft tall. No shot it can support inflorescence right?

PR-Giants: Thanks for the clarification of terms. Yes, I meant to ask which cultivars are typically able to yield seed. This leads to another question: which cultivars are typically able to produce...

Re: Tissue cultures keep dying
I definitely understand the TC issue.
I've had 3 TCs for a couple of months now, and they're so finicky and growing barely faster than snails race.
It seems like we've passed the glory days of...

Re: First flower! Dwarf Orinoco
Would there be any potential in crossing an Orinoco and Velutina?
Also fantastic pictures!
