I had to cut them down as i only had a 9ft ceiling. However the soil stayed to moist and my large ones rotted. The key is to make sure you have a very well draining soil and it is not wet as the roots will rot. I have grow lights in my shed and keep it heated as I also have a few palms otherwise I heard you can pull them keep them in the dark and mist every couple of months and then replant in the spring. I think I will try this next year. They have to be kept at or under 50degrees so they go dormant.
