Marenmar, Yes, M. basjoo is most commonly associated with the Japanese word "basho" (but that word actually means little more than "Musa"). It is the yellow-flowered, cold-tolerant banana most popular in Europe. Did you check the size of your seeds? M. basjoo seeds are quite big! If they are about 8-100mm long and 4mm high, they almost certainly are M. basjoo!
