Thanks! I have learned with any plants I get in the mail that I have to acclimate them gradually to both the sunlight and the heat, although even so they usually drop the leaves they arrive with.

For this banana specifically, what would you recommend? Shade? Potting it?

I had also heard that yellow leaves can indicate either over or under watering, and since the ground is constantly thoroughly moist, I reduced how much I was watering it, with no change.
Thanks!

Plants that small would have a hard time with water fluctuations, and sunlight in the ground. I usually grow mine in pots until they have at least a foot and a half of stem. That way conditions can be better controlled until they are able to deal with extremes, Orinoco is usually a pretty strong plant when older. Also, all new plants I get are gradually placed in stronger sunlight over a period of a week so they dont get burned.

It takes a little longer than is advertised, at least here anyway, but the second year they start getting big. The good news is they produce a lot of offsets for future planting.

It's only in the sun until 2pm. After that it's in the shade.
