Gorgeous tree - we had something similar in England and I love them. A real sign of spring!

ok now this picture hurt my feelings. i had one planted and because of the water restrictions it died. mine was only a year old, but i stilll cried for my tree. however you have a lovely tree there. i might try another one this fall or maybe next spring. very pretty.

I started on high for about an hour. Its a $12.00 heating pad, so it doesnt get boiling hot. Then I would turn it down to the next setting for bout' 7hrs. Off for 12hr. Take the container out of the bag,and place in a cool room till morning.
I like the set-up. I didnt germinate anything! Iam sure my problem was not sterilizing my soil! (bad move)
I kept an oscillating fan blowing in the room to keep the gnats at bay. Next winter iam going to use an idea from another post and crush those mosquito dunks in the water.Good Luck!

What a great money-saving idea! Curious about what setting you're using for the heating pad?
