It is a "Great Blue Heron" (still immature here) 105 -130 cm (42" to5 ") may stand (at maturity) up to 4'tall. Even though still immature, it is impressive enough to scare our cats

They're in the same family. The datura blooms face upwards and they're usually grown as annuals. The brugmansia have larger blooms, hanging down and most people grow them as potted plants and keep them for years. I personally favor the daturas myself, they bloom more often (pretty much constantly) while the brugmansia blooms in flushes and then it's a while before they bloom again. You can't beat the smell of a brug like this with a lot of blooms on it though...
