i was going to plant it in the ground but the instructions say to plant it in a pot at first then transfer it to the ground.

Good work Porkpi - we have a beach party each year with a roast pig - but the last one was 78 pounds and took 3 men to carry it. But they are good eating! That one you had looks good - not too fat. I can taste it now!!

Home made tostones are totally different from restaurant ones, and so much better!! There is no comparison! And these made delicious ones - a bit too big though! picky! picky! Take care over the next week with Fay!!

Haha! you would need Red Bull to eat that lot before they ripened. We have no problem ripening them - wish we could slow them down. Just managed to give them away before they became over-ripe. With orinocos (as you know) they are at their best when they are really ripe, soft and puddingy. So of course no shelf life left to them, but delicious beyond telling! Jim (my other half) says he has never tasted bananas like them! High praise indeed!!

If the bananas are green you can ripe them. Avery day some 2 or 3 bananas. Put them together with 1, 2 or 3, ... apples into a plastic bag and close it. You will be surprise how fast green bananas ripe.
Apples produce acetylene that is used in banana ripening centers.

We have had a Mojito Cuban party for the last 8 years. This was the third year for a suckling piggy. We ate it all too!
